Dirk Heirman started his career as a Compensation & Benefits consultant. After having picked up the basics of Comp & Ben, Dirk joined Opel Belgium. He wanted to be ‘on the other side’, be behind the steering wheel. He managed Comp & Ben, expats and staffing/workforce planning.
After General Motors, Dirk joined Johnson & Johnson where he got the opportunity to expand his local knowledge to an international level. This resulted in a responsibility for Compensation & Benefits for all Pharma R&D companies of J&J, having associates in 47 different countries around the globe. During this time, given the complexity at hand, Dirk learned to understand the importance of a solid basis, a performing HCM solution.
When Dirk declined an opportunity to move abroad, he decided to join Delhaize, where his responsibilities where localized again, but expanded. During his time at Delhaize he managed not only Compensation & Benefits, but also Payroll, HR Administration, HRIS, HR Analytics, Social Legal department and General Services. This is were Dirk got to understand budgeting and managing managers: he managed a team of 83 associates and about 20 consultants in total.
When Delhaize mergers with Ahold mid 2016, the 5th biggest food retailer was created, with a revenue of 62 billion euro and 370.000 associates globally.
Dirk was offered the opportunity to take on the responsibility for Benefits, based out of Zaandam, the Netherlands.
Because of the chosen organization model, Dirk was not able to implement the opportunities he identified at the pace he wanted. This is what made him resign from Ahold Delhaize and start his own business, DHR Partners, assuming his 20+ years experience in the Reward field will bring value to the partnerships we will establish.
